- Care Circle member information
- Communications with Kate AI
- Wearable device data (with your permission)

We automatically collect certain information including device type, browser type, IP address, and usage patterns to improve our services.
1.3 Phone Number Collection
We collect your phone number to provide:
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) for account security
- Medication reminders
- Appointment reminders
- Health check-in notifications
- Care Circle alerts (when enabled)
Your phone number is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
2.1 General Use
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the AdvoKate platform
- Facilitate communications with your Care Circle
- Generate health insights and trend analysis
- Send reminders and notifications you've requested
- Respond to your inquiries and provide support
- Ensure security and prevent fraud
2.2 SMS/Text Message Communications
When you provide your phone number and opt in to notifications, we may send you text messages for:
- Security: Two-factor authentication codes and login alerts
- Medication Reminders: Notifications when it's time to take your medications
- Appointment Reminders: Reminders about upcoming healthcare appointments
- Health Check-ins: Prompts to log vitals or symptoms
- Care Circle Alerts: Notifications about activity from your care team (when enabled)
2.3 SMS HIPAA Compliance
Your Privacy is Protected: All SMS messages from AdvoKate are designed to be HIPAA-compliant. Our text messages never contain Protected Health Information (PHI) such as specific medication names, health conditions, symptoms, or appointment details. Messages contain only generic reminders directing you to open the app for details.
Example messages you may receive:
- "ADVO/Kate: Time for your medication. Open the app to view details."
- "ADVO/Kate: You have an upcoming appointment. Check the app for information."
- "ADVO/Kate: Your verification code is: 123456"
2.4 Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on your settings:
- Security codes: Only when you log in or perform sensitive actions
- Medication reminders: Based on your medication schedule (up to 10 per day)
- Appointment reminders: 1-2 messages per appointment
- Health check-ins: As configured in your settings (typically 1-3 per day)
Standard message and data rates may apply. You can adjust frequency or opt out at any time.
2.5 SMS Opt-Out
You can control SMS notifications per category in your account settings:
- App Settings: Go to Account → Notifications to enable/disable specific notification types
- Reply STOP: Text STOP to any message to unsubscribe from all non-security SMS
- Reply HELP: Text HELP for assistance
Note: Security-related messages (2FA codes) cannot be disabled while SMS authentication is enabled. You may switch to an authenticator app in your security settings.
3. How We Share Your Information
We never sell your personal health information.
We share information only:
- With your Care Circle: Only what you explicitly choose to share
- In downloaded reports: Health data you choose to share with any healthcare provider
- Service Providers: Trusted partners who help us operate (bound by confidentiality agreements)
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect safety
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- 256-bit AES encryption for data at rest
- TLS 1.3 encryption for data in transit
- Regular security audits and penetration testing
- Multi-factor authentication options
- SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access and download your data at any time
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data

- Control what you share with your Care Circle
- Manage notification preferences per category
6. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
7. Children's Privacy
AdvoKate is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the platform.
